CKC Landscaping is leading the charge promoting the benefits of permeable pavers systems. Permeable paver systems allows water to enter in the joints between solid concrete pavers and flows through an “open-graded” base. We are working with municipalities to teach them that these systems are a great way to comply with the stringent MS4 regulations and help control stormwater runoff. Some townships do not count permeable paving towards your total impervious surface, thus providing you for more opportunities to enhance your property.
A recent permeable paver driveway project
CKC Landscaping recently installed this 2100 square foot permeable paver driveway using EP Henry Eco Paver. Located in the Borough of Conshohoken PA, we educated the municipality and showed them how successful these systems can be. This project is a full infiltration system, that means that it is designed to handle all rainwater that falls onto the driveway. Great for the environment, adds value to your home, and looks great too! Permeable driveway excavation curb section of EP Henry permeable paver driveway. This paver driveway is a full infiltration design. The key to permeable paver systems is that it is installed correctly, and that proper grading around the area does not allow silt to wash in and clog the system.
To the left we have a fully excavated area; approximately 4′ deep, that will handle the permeable paver system. To the right we have a concrete curb poured and stones that were designed to handle infiltration.
Notice in this picture we are using a “new” edging restraint that has a grid that lays under the pavers. The weight of the pavers helps to keep everything intact.
